The president of ThisAbled, LLC, Javier Robles, has been invited to attend the National Council on Disabilities (NCD) Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Summit. NCD has chosen the theme: "Living, Learning & Earning" for this year’s historic event.
The Summit will take place at the Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel, 999 9th Street, NW, Washington, DC, July 25–28, 2010.
According the organizers, “This cross-cutting theme is designed to launch a national dialogue on disability policies and programs in the 21st century. As we gather in Washington, DC to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the signing of the ADA, NCD wants to begin substantive discussions about the future of disability policies and programs, and promote extensive collaboration at all levels of government and among all stakeholders. We are pleased to announce that we’ve expanded the number of Summit participants to ensure we have the best opportunities possible to ensure a diversity of perspectives, and to begin building relationships among decision-makers and stakeholders.”

The summit has the collaboration of various National players in the field of employment and disabilities, including:
- Kessler Foundation - Easter Seals Project Action - Goodwill Industries - National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research
NCD stated in its website that at this Summit, they will join with an expanded group of federal partners, Congress and disability community stakeholders to:
• identify emerging opportunities to enhance Living, Learning & Earning by people with disabilities; • establish new mechanisms to improve the coordination of disability policies, programs and advocacy efforts; and • energize collaborative networks to guide future disability policy directions. Living: This section will focus on living in the community throughout the lifespan — having choices, physical and information access, and the freedom to fully participate in community life, including communities around the world. How can we improve access to housing, long term supports, freedom of mobility, access to quality health care, and inclusion in emergency preparedness planning?
Learning: This section will focus on access to lifelong educational opportunities, with special emphasis on young people with disabilities. How can we ensure that support for education access is built into systems for early intervention, health care, transition planning and implementation, long term supports and services, transportation, assistive technology, and housing?
Earning: This section will focus on meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities, with special attention to workforce development in light of the current recession and returning combat veterans. How can we enhance employment opportunities for people with disabilities and ensure coordination with essential life elements such as access to housing, transportation, health care, and reasonable accommodations?
In addition, the Summit will also now include an additional half-day, post-Summit discussion session on July 28, where NCD will reflect on the Summit’s proceedings and entertain additional stakeholder input.
